Exclusions and privacy

Keep your own visits out, block junk traffic, and how the cookie-free tracking works.

Exclusions

Your own visits pollute your numbers. So can spam referrers. Analytics → Settings → Exclusions keeps them out. The list starts empty; you add:

  • IP addresses — one address or a range. Your home or office connection, for example.
  • Pages — paths to hide, like /admin.
  • Hostnames — traffic arriving from a hostname you do not want counted.
  • Countries — whole countries.
  • Referrers — domains sending you junk traffic, such as a spam referrer.

Attack mode

In Analytics → Settings → Security, Attack mode blocks traffic from unusual sources, like data centres and VPNs. You can also set it to switch itself on when a traffic spike is detected, so a flood gets filtered while it is happening, not after.

Privacy

The tracking script is cookie-free, and that is always on: visits are counted without cookies and without identifying individual people.

What gets counted is your choice, in Analytics → Settings → General: subdomains, query parameters, hash links, outbound links, time on page. Admin pages and localhost can be switched there too; localhost is off by default. Bot traffic can be filtered out of the numbers in Analytics → Settings → Dashboard.
